25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
This was my first summer stock job at Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake, New York. I loved working here. I started the summer here as a general tech intern and finished as the Technical Director.
For Spelling Bee, I did all of the scenic painting transforming the blank space into a wooden gymnasium. It was a pretty steep learning curve and since the performance space doubled as the rehearsal space I had pretty limited time to work. It was a great experience to see how much I could get done every day after the rehearsals ended and especially with such a complex multi-step paint treatment.
During the run of the show, I ran the microphones for all nine actors. I also set up the entire wireless mic system in the theatre. It was brand new to the building and was the first time this theatre had used them.
Paint Elevations and Instructions
These were the elevations I received from our scenic designer, Ashleigh Poteat.
The elevations came with instructions detailing how best to accomplish the desired look. I loved the amount of detail that could be put into this space and how it really transformed the stage.
